I need help…

And I don’t ask for it nearly enough. I started this blog to give out clues and tips but sometimes I just need to write. Today is one of those times…

I’m not “Super Mom”…we all try to be, and for those of you women that aren’t moms try to be “Super Women”. Admit it. You try to do everything on your own, from work at the office to work at home to time with friends and family, but it’s not possible to get it all “done”. When we do try to get it all done something falls through the cracks. This past weekend one of my Aunts said to me, “Your facebook makes me tired! How do you do all that stuff with M on the weekends?”. The answer is I’m not sure.

At the beginning of the year Dan and I made a sort of bucket list for 2014. It wasn’t so much of stuff that we HAD to do, but wanted to do. We love going out and about with M on the weekends and when we don’t want to just run to Target and to dinner we look at our list and see what we can cross off. I don’t like to just sit. In fact I can’t. When we are watching TV, most of the times I’m multitasking by paying bills, making coupon/shopping list or running laundry. It drives Dan nuts. Especially when he has to pause in the middle of a show we are watching so I can run down and check the laundry.

I am so lucky that I have my parents and family around to help with M so much and Dan is awesome about helping at home, but sometimes you need that extra help. A few months back we started getting the house cleaned once a month. In my head I battled with it. Did we really need to spend the extra money? Why can’t I keep up with it myself? The truth? I just can’t and I would rather spend the time I do have with M and Dan. We have a little over 2 ½ precious hours with M every night and then about 1 ½ together before I fall asleep. Like I mentioned earlier I tend to spend our time together paying bills and doing laundry. I don’t want to spend our whole weekends cleaning the house. Yet it still makes me feel guilty and I won’t ever get that feeling to go away…except for that one time a month (like today for me!) when I go home and walk into an awesomely cleaned house all at once. 🙂

So if you are a “Super Mom” or “Super Woman” don’t hesitate to ask for help. As much as we would all like to, we can’t do it ALL by ourselves…just most of it!

I love Buzzfeed…How To Clean (Almost) Anything And Everything!

I know I have said it before, but I will say it again. Here is a cool Buzzfeed post about ways to clean things…and to clean them easy!

#83 is my favorite…Mom and I talk about that all the time. How do you clean that weird space between oven glass??? This shows you how!

I admit, this is a bribe…

Ok, so I need everyone’s help…I need more likes on my Facebook page so I can continue to give away more free stuff. I going to dangle a carrot out there in the form of a $10 Starbucks gift card (and who doesn’t like Starbucks?!?!?). Like my page, share this post, help a girl out!

Oodles of Zoodles!

So I have been slacking lately in blog posts…we have been busy…it’s been summer…and to be honest I didn’t have many compelling Clues/Links/Thought to give. I see all the cool creative things you can do with your kids over the summer and I think “I’m happy just letting my kid play in her sandbox/water table/baby pool and enjoy the summer.” Don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome ideas out there…Have you seen the giant water blobs????  … But M is happy without me having to be creative yet. Next year I’m sure I will need some of these things to save my sanity!

I do have a pretty good tip this week though!

“C”lue- So on Facebook I saw a friend post about her Paderno Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer , and so I was intrigued (Thanks Greta!). One of my goals this year was for Dan and I to eat healthier. M already eats more vegetables and healthy foods in a day than Dan & I eat in a week. So we decided to try it out! Dan wanted to play with our new gadget so he offered to spiralize the zucchini while I started a “sauce”. I took a box of Dei Fratelli Truly Finely Chopped Tomatoes that we had, put in a bit of garlic, onion powder, and a few other spices I use when I make my spaghetti sauce. I have to say, the sauce was pretty awesome, tasted fresh and didn’t have any preservatives or other crap in there. After Dan took the kitchen shears to the zucchini (it came out in one giant spiral so he trimmed it down to noodle size), I lightly sautéed them in a tiny bit of olive oil and minced garlic for 3 or 4 minutes and then poured my sauce over them

“L”ink- Before using it the first time I watched these two videos: Make the Best Zucchini Spaghetti Quick and Simple  & How to Spiralize: Zucchini   Both super quick and just gave me a better idea of how it was going to work. Didn’t want to waste the beautiful zucchini that I got in the Strip District that morning!

“T”hought- It was a super quick and healthy dinner. I think it took us maybe 15 minutes max and that included cleanup. I would do it again for sure and it was worth the $25 for the Paderno. Dan would like the “zoodles” a little more cooked next time. I was happy with the texture so maybe just take them out sooner for me than him.
